Warwick Sewer Authority (WSA) Director, Janine Burke went before the Warwick City Council on November 6, 2017 to give her WSA "quarterly review." Video of this is below. What you will hear is Burke in her classic, evasive demeanor, go before the City Council totally unprepared and demonstrating yet again, that she doesn't know how to do her job properly. Mayor Avedisian hired her and he never holds her accountable, as he never holds any of his friends accountable, and the taxpayers always pay the price.
Governor Francis Phase III sewer project property owners will pay the hefty price for Janine Burke's continued dereliction of duty. Two years after she was talking about acquiring the land for a pumping station for Gov. Francis Phase III, she still doesn't have it, and the construction project has been delayed yet again. This is a repeat of what Burke did during the Gov. Francis Phase II sewer construction project. Thousands of dollars were spent on legal fees to straighten out the mess Burke created the last time around, when she failed to acquire the land prior to the construction of the Gov. Francis Phase II project. Where has the Mayor been to oversee the Phase III progress especially after the screw ups Burke caused during Phase II? The Mayor is always everywhere else except where he needs to be.
Watch and listen to the video below as Burke is questioned on where she's at regarding the costly, $300K mistake she made during the construction of the berm at the sewer plant. This happened because Burke didn't do the proper subsurface testing of the ground prior to construction, and gigantic boulders were discovered that resulted in one big mess. Do you think she would have learned her lesson there? Of course not. It's the same ole broken record repeating itself over and over again. Burke is never fully prepared to answer questions at City Hall and sometimes she doesn't even bother to show up and respectfully let the City Council President know in advance. In fact, she states in the video that she doesn't have the council president's number to call him.
How could we expect anything more from these city directors when the Mayor never holds them accountable himself?
