Warwick firefighters are getting paid to cover the janitor "fire watch" shifts at Holliman and Norwood Elementary schools as a result of City/School negligence and oversight. Fire alarms not functioning for at least a month in Warwick elementary schools... another fabulous "belt notch" for the City of Warwick.
Warwick Watch submitted records requests months ago to the City of Warwick to learn more about how the City is paying for fire alarm upgrades in all of the city buildings while pulling the funding from a building bond.
Below are attachments from a records request that show the City fire alarm upgrades by building location, cost, and vendor. It's important to note that the Buttonwoods Senior Center fire alarm upgrades cost $125K and now the City is trying to close it down.
In the past month, Warwick taxpayers have learned that when it comes to fire alarms and properly connected and functioning sewer systems in the schools.. the KIDS come last.
To date, the City has purchase orders with:
Amazing... the CITY makes sure all of CITY buildings are all up to par when it comes to fire alarm upgrades, but the SCHOOL buildings? Eh...oh well., who cares.
It's not an "aging population" that has many families and businesses in Warwick packing up and leaving, just take a good look around. Warwick taxpayers are being financially robbed and encroached upon on a daily basis by a completely incompetent City and school admin -as school buildings, roads, parks, beaches and senior services slowly rot away... all while a City faces its 18th consecutive year of tax increases.
But keep voting them in.
