TAX INCREASE YET AGAIN! 18th straight year of tax increases and it will never end.
🛑 Personal property, increased to $20.70 (from $20.24)--
🛑 Commercial -increased to $31.05 (from $30.36)and
🛑Tangible personal property --increased to $41.40 (from $40.48)--all taxes increasing yet again for the 18th straight year.
The budget increases by about $12 million and the majority of it is being allocated almost entirely to employee salaries and benefits, pensions and healthcare. Less than $1 million to social and human services.
Schools did not get what they asked for and the City took twice as much!!
Another $3 million pulled from the city's savings account to balance the budget. This is how the Mayor plays games. The spending doesn't reflect the revenue. He's creating even more of a STRUCTURAL DEFICIT!! How much more will taxes have to be increased next year? ???
Our 2002-2003 budget was $232 million.
Our 2007-2008 budget was $275 million
Our 2017-2018 budget is $310 million
During this time, school buildings have decayed, senior centers have closed, human and social services funding has consistently decreased, our roads have and continue to crumble before our eyes, our parks, beaches and roads are covered in litter and sand, our beaches continue to close because of pollution...
Why are the people so asleep?
Is this what you want for your parents? Your children?
This is a slow death of a city.
Every single year that you live in Warwick... your taxes will be going up.. and up.. and up...
