More about the condition of the $61,100 solar powered composting toilet building at Rocky Point Park in the video below...
I have another question though...
is a "free event" at Rocky Point Park really "free" when city workers are staying after hours to help pack it up and close the park? How much are Warwick taxpayers having to pay in city worker OT when they are working until 9PM at a "free" public event?
What return on the Rocky Point open space investment are the Warwick taxpayers getting with busted up facilities and city workers getting paid OT to entertain the public for $0???
The $71 million wasted on a circulator project the city didn't need could have been invested at Rocky Point Park. How about starting off with a beautiful fishing pier with a few tourist shops, serving Rocky Point clam cakes, chowder and Warwick Ice Cream.. all eco friendly/solar powered. Then maybe also add in water taxi service and a couple of water slides?
What is all of the open space worth if it doesn't at least give something back to the community without costing it anything?
A seasonal investment at the Rocky Point ghost park is not asking for a lot, is it?
"Scrupulous Public Scrutiny" Needed To Oppose $38million In New Stadium Taxpayer Funding- Keep the PawSox at McCoy!
The state just can't keep away from the dreaded number 38. The only thing "near the end of its useful life” ("useful" being highly questionable) is any RI politician that has been in office for more than eight years-- not McCoy Stadium.
The owners of the PawSox are claiming they will pay $45 million towards the $83 million total cost of a new publicly owned stadium that would be located at the old Apex building site in downtown Pawtucket. They are asking the RI taxpayers to contribute $23 million -- out of a total project cost of $73 million + $10 mil for the land-- and the city of Pawtucket to make up the balance by throwing in another $15 million. “Ballpark at Slater Mill” would be the new name of the stadium.
Tens of thousands of Rhode Islanders have already signed petitions opposing the construction of any new ballpark since the new PawSox stadium discussions and proposals first began. Apparently, this massive public opposition spaghetti isn't sticking to the state legislator walls yet..it needs a little more time to cook.
Governor Raimondo always loves to throw out the political pitch line that everything comes back to the creation of "jahbs" and she could care less about who ultimately pays the sacrificial price to create these "jahbs"--- you know the answer, the RI taxpaying lambs. Take a drive through the the Apponaug Circulators if you haven't already, and you'll know exactly what I'm referring to...200+ MVAs and counting...
Is it such a novel idea to not create "jahbs" by making them up out of thin air, and protect and invest in what you have already to SAVE TAXPAYER MONEY?? We have a massively outdated infrastructure with lead in our water and beaches closing down weekly due to bacterial pollution, but the Govenah is still trying to force feed the financially starving Rhode Islanders... more "jahbs."
If you build it and they don't come, who pays the bill Govenah and Speakah?
This information below was received via email and it's being re-shared here. The people are URGED to attend these public meetings to have it be made loud and clear -once again- that Rhode Islanders do not want a new stadium!
Re-shared on behalf of David Norton's MoveOn petition:
"The 1st of 6 hearings concerning a taxpayer funded stadium will take place at the Rhode Island State House at 82 Smith Street in Providence on September 14th at 6 pm in room 313.
It is wrong for our elected leaders to give our tax dollars to super-wealthy individuals. The current Apex Stadium plan is reckless and puts Pawtucket's critical state aid at risk for the next 30 years.
We all love the team. We all love McCoy. We want the team to stay if possible but taking money away from the poor and giving it to the super-wealthy is obscene, cruel and very wrong.
Please help me stop this terrible deal from financially burdening all of us for the next 30 years by taking these two actions today:
1) Join our event on Facebook and make a plan to attend the hearing here: Billionaire PawSox VS Rhode Island Taxpayers: Round 1
2) Leave written feedback for our Senate Finance Committee here: http://www.pawsoxhearings.com/contact/
Thank you for your support,
From the "PawSox Billionaires Trying To Take All Of Our Money Hearings" page:
"There are Senate finance hearings promised to the PawSox owners so that they can get a chance to pretend there was some public vetting before they receive their tax giveaway to build a stadium on the Apex site. Word is that they will parade a long line of bankers and other money lenders out in public to give a seal of approval to this deal.
If we don't show up in force and let them know that we don't want the billionaire owners to get the $15 Million from impoverished Pawtucket or the additional $23 million from our economically struggling state, then please come to this hearings and let your voice be heard! "

Last Thursday evening, the Warwick Sewer Authority Board of Directors and the WSA Director, Janine Burke, wanted to award the construction contract for Governor Francis phase 3 sewers. They had a big problem though... they haven't received the zoning change yet for the pumping station.
This is a repeat of what happened regarding the pumping station project for Governor Francis Phase 2. For those of you who don't know your history, this required legal action by the WSA to acquire the land because they didn't have clear title to the pumping station land prior to starting sewer project construction. This once again resulted in thousands of dollars in... WASTE.
Don't you think WSA Director Janine Burke and her Board would have learned their lesson the first time? Oh no, their motto is : as long as we're in the black, let the ratepayers be damned.
This is the video camera mount on my Jeep dash. My iPhone is mounted to this and the recorder is on from the moment I leave my driveway to my next destination -STOP. Everything is captured via video while I'm driving on the road. This includes anyone texting and driving.
I happened to catch a female driver today texting and driving from Greenwich Ave all the way to KON Asian Bistro in EG. She caught my attention because she was all over the road. When she finally pulled into the parking lot and parked, I let her know she was captured on video texting and driving the entire time and how she put herself and everyone else in extreme danger which also included almost side swiping parked cars .
When she listened to what I had witnessed, she did apologize and admitted it was wrong and that she would "throw her phone in the back seat from now on" while she's driving.
Texting and driving is extremely dangerous!!! The law is not being enforced because in my opinion, it's just impossible to do so, unless an officer just so happens to catch someone today like I did.
The reason why I always have my phone recording on my camera mount is because I know just how bad it is to drive around Warwick and/or anywhere in RI and I have it going to protect myself if need be, or to help someone else (evidence), or just because...you never know what you will catch!
Put your phones down and keep them down while you are driving...
IT CAN WAIT!!
Let people wonder where you are!! It's OK!! Then you can tell them "I couldn't get back to you right away because I was driving" and pass the --being responsible-- message along!
IT CAN WAIT!!!
Hey bleeding heart nuggets!! When the panhandlers are done going through your "care packages" and guzzling down the bottled drinks you hand them, they toss it all across the street on the ground.
I went out there yesterday to make a small video asking the RIDOT to please clean it all up. The RIDOT does an excellent job of responding to special requests. Any time I contact the RIDOT to go to a specific area to do clean up work, they get it done.
The entire tree line area at the corner of Bald Hill and East Ave (in between Commonwealth and East Ave) is completely covered with litter, the majority of it, if not all, is tossed over there by the panhandlers!
This is yet another reason why panhandling in the middle of the roadways needs to be banned!
Once again, let me remind you all that the panhandler that looks like "Cee-Lo" -- Jamal Ruspus-- IS NOT HOMELESS!!!!! He makes an easy living pretending to be homeless-- BUT HE ISN'T!!
You might as well take your dollars and toss them out of your vehicle window into the wind. That's how much of difference your contribution is making to a panhandling fraud like Jamal Ruspus.
Word on the street is Jamal also has a rotten mouth. If you have anything to say to "Cee-Lo"-- he will call you a f-ing whore. Not surprised as he has beaten up a few women in his pathetic lifetime and has a criminal record to prove it.
But keep supporting a woman beating fraud-- you fools.
The QUARTER 1 payment on your motor vehicle tax bill is due by Sept 30th! The City sent the car tax bill out late because it waited for the state budget resolution to be passed.
You can pay your vehicle tax bill online by visiting the city's citizen tax payment self service website. You may also pay your bill in person at the Tax Collector’s Office, located at 3275 Post Road (behind City Hall). If you have any questions, talk to Chris Celeste the city tax assessor in person or call him at (401) 738-2005.
Don't send your payment to Boston!!! Slip your bill through the drop slot at the Warwick tax assessor's office behind City Hall and keep the city workers -- busy!!!! It's a waste of taxpayer dollars to even be using the Boston service-- WASTE!
I'm not going to give you the Boston address (even though it's on your hard copy bill).
Your Quarter 2, 3 & 4 car tax bill's are due on:
WW requested the total number of reported motor vehicles accidents that occurred in any of the Apponaug Circulators from 3/1/2016- 8/10/2017.
The total number = 193 !
(Approx. average = 11 MVA's per month!)
